Village of the Arts Presents Mermaid Artwalk July 6-7


The Village of the Arts will host its monthly First Friday Artwalk on July 6-7 and the spotlight is on mermaids!

Mermaid art will be on display in studios and galleries throughout the Village.  Find mermaid crowns and wall hangings at Alisa’s Refoveo Touch Gallery.  Divine Excess Folk Art Gallery will feature a collection of mermaids painted on old wood by Rhonda K, a 9th generation Florida folk artist. Little Swamp Studio and Gallery has mermaid mosaics and other art by Anna D’Aste, George Bieber and Susan Coulis.  Alcover Massage will provide free chair massages and a sale on all pearl and mermaid-themed jewelry. Left of Center Gallery will feature a mermaid painting and hand-altered prints by Randy Blahna.  Fun Girl Art will be bursting with mermaid creations including a 5 ft metal mermaid sculpture by Jean G Farmer, acrylic mermaid paintings by Heather Johnson and Sheryl Schermer, stained glass mermaids by Laurie Roland, upcycled blue jean purses with mermaid scales by Kristine Johansen, cigar box art by Cheryl Kinderknecht and even an appearance by live mermaids on Saturday from 11-4!

The Mermaid Artwalk will also feature live music and food. Trailside Phantoms, a band from St. Petersburg that specializes in alternative bluegrass/Americana music, will play at Jerk Dog Records on Friday from 6-9pm. Firestone Gallery will host a front porch concert by Jerry Shell of Seabreeze.  Enjoy a meal at one of these Village restaurants open during July’s Artwalk: Ortygia Restaurant, CopaMoca, and Arte Caffe. Food will also be provided by guest vendors Ray's Vegan Soul and Bowled Life Food Truck.

Artwalk hours are Friday, July 6 from 6-9:30pm and Saturday, July 7 from 11am-4pm.
