"Sultry Ladies"
About the artist...
Donald Brown has exhibited work both in juried shows and in one-person shows in his hometown, Boston, Massachusetts. He served over twenty years as an art teacher and nearly a decade as the Fine Arts Director for the Boston Public Schools, during which time he worked on multicultural projects involving such varied artists as Corita Kent, Yo Yo Ma, Jacques D’Amboise, Alvin Ailey, and Michael Douglas.
Donald graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art with a BFA in Painting and Illustration and from Cambridge College with a Masters in Educational Administration.
Brown’s lifelong love of movies and, most particularly, the 1940’s femme fatales of film noir, has infused and permeated his artworks for decades. His subjects tend to be the strong, and sultry stars whose images are seemingly somewhat under-represented in contemporary portraiture. Happily and accordingly, Donald’s works provide art and film aficionados with uniquely iconic paintings.
